Morten Hansen reveals that top performers apply Work Smarter Practices, backed up by a unique, 5-year study of more than 5,000 participants. The good news is that these can be applied by anyone. Yup, even you! Read more below to learn more about these practices!
What does it mean to work smart?
“Working smart means maximizing the value of your work by selecting a few activities and applying intense targeted effort” – Morten Hansen
Know what to prioritize and what to cut down
Identify the main tasks you have to do and be brave enough to say no to adding more things. You can manually list these down and cross out what’s not as urgent and important.
Focus on working on tasks that add value the most
Redesign your work so you put in effort on the right things and that you do these things well. You can remove activities, improve the quality of what you’re currently doing, add new tasks that bring value, or even look for ways to be more efficient with your time.
Look for ways to learn always, in all ways
Make it a habit to look for opportunities to keep learning at work! You can try to allot even just 15 minutes every day to learn something new, break down goals into smaller chunks, and even just practice being more mindful about how you go about your day.
Intersect your passion and purpose
People who find passion and purpose in their jobs released focused energy and make more productive use of their time. Assess how much passion and purpose you find in your job and reflect — why is that your current state, and what can you do to go closer to your ideal?
Working smart doesn’t mean working less. It means working hard on what truly matters.
